Bio

Like many people, I find these things hard to write. It's difficult to describe my personality. I don't buy into this hypocritical keep it real bullshit. I'll readily admit that I'm a chameleon. I adapt to situations and act accordingly, depending on what I want. I am not a people-pleaser, but I will sometimes behave that way. I am something of a misanthropist. I very much prefer my own company, but I will not deny that there are some wonderful people out there.

You can trust me. I don't gossip or tell secrets. I might just use your secrets against you if you piss me off, that's all. I like helping people, even strangers, and I consider myself to be a fair and impartial person, which is largely because I don't get emotionally involved in things. I get on with most people but very few become my close friends: I find most people annoying, and most people are put off by my detachment. I seem to attract people who are clingy and insecure, maybe because of my confidence (opposites do attract), but I usually end up hurting them. I believe in tough love. If someone asks me for my opinion and advice, they will get it.

I went through the phase of dressing differently to show how totally unique I was. I gradually learned that things tend to go a lot more smoothly when you blend in with the crowd and nobody suspects you of being any different from 'most people'. I'm not unique, but I'm not 'most people'. But most people don't know that.

As for the more mundane things, I am at university studying Religions and Theology. I love my course. I get to meet all kinds of batshit insane people whilst learning to feign tolerance for their batshit insane ideas. I love university in general, despite all of the hippies and wannabe politicians who think they're going to change the world by banning Coca-Cola and banging drums. I'm working towards auditioning for a place at a conservatory to study opera, which is the career path that I wish to follow.

I have been playing piano from an early age. I have been singing for as long as I can remember, but only started taking voice lessons in 2007. I study music theory and I contribute to the creative process for my band (lyrics and melodies, mainly). If I don't make it as an opera singer or the frontwoman of a band, I'd like to develop my language skills and work for the government or an international organisation.

I support the Manchester Phoenix hockey team and I love them with a passion. Hockey is the only thing about which I am unashamedly emotional, loyal and self-sacrificing. I'm also an ex-cheerleader, an ex-dancer of various kinds and a martial artist on hiatus. I hold a blue belt in Taekwondo and a yellow sash in XMA. I'm not as athletic as it sounds, I promise.

And, like many people, I have a myriad of random, relatively simple indulgences that I enjoy. I like being generous with the people who I care about, myself included. I like deep conversations and light-hearted debates. I like sitting in coffee houses on rainy days with a hot chocolate and a good book. I like laughing so hard that I cry. I like big, epic music played loud. I like solitude and silence. I like clever horror movies (and books), but I also like those with senseless violence and excessive gore. I appreciate beauty, whether it's a beautiful person or a breathtaking view.

I have lots of other casual interests that are all over the place at the moment, but will perhaps become focused at some point. I want to live my life to the full for as long as possible. I don't waste time on regrets. I accept responsibility for my actions. I learn from my mistakes. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.
